What to do in Sechelt, BC

At the beginning of May we spent a long weekend in Sechelt.

Sechelt is along the Sunshine Coast, about a 45-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay Terminal in Vancouver, then a 20-25 minute drive from Langdale Ferry Terminal along the winding Sunshine Coast Highway.

It’s a beautiful town, split into different districts. We explored Davis Bay, the Village, East Porpoise Bay but spent most of our time with family at their home in the west Sechelt area. We visit pretty often and every time here’s what we like to do…

Our Favourite Things To Do In Sechelt:

  • The Sechelt Artisans and Farm Market is every Saturday in the Village. Bring your own bag and pick up local honey, jam and berries.
  • Davis Bay beach is great for beach combing with your little ones. Pick shells, spot the crabs, skip rocks and enjoy the sea breeze.
  • Porpoise Bay beach (East Porpoise Bay) in the Provincial Park Campground. This is a great beach. Bring a picnic lunch, enjoy the playground, watch the sea planes land and make sand castles.
  • Our favourite place to eat dinner is the Wobbly Canoe in Davis Bay. It’s casual, kid friendly and has some great burgers, tacos and craft beer.
  • Our favourite place for coffee and brunch is the Basted Baker in the Village. It’s a small place but there’s more seating (covered patio) in the back. Try their homemade biscuits with their strawberry jam.
  • My favourite place to shop is at Moorestock in the Village. Super cute, trendy pieces and they have a kids clothing shop with good brands in the strip mall beside Claytons.
  • Smuggler Cove trail is awesome. It’s stroller friendly. Enjoy a nice walk through tall grass, old trees, swamps, wooden bridges and then finally to the Cove.

We haven’t tried this yet, but I heard hiking Skookumchuck Narrows is pretty awesome too.

Have you been to Sechelt?
