Gender Reveal Party = #Trending! Am I right? Chris & I were on the fence about throwing a gender reveal party because for a little while I wasn’t sure I wanted to find out the sex of our baby. I imagined us in the hospital and the Doctor surprising us with “IT’S A GIRL!” or “IT’S A BOY!” as she raised our little babe up for us to see.
But I knew Chris wanted to find out, and so did our family. After all, this would be the first grand baby for our parents and we’re the first of our group of friends to get pregnant. Many future aunties, uncles and grandparents, wanted to know if they would be buying baby girl things or boy things! (This baby is spoiled already). We went to our ultrasound at BC Women’s’ and our doctor sealed up the results in an envelope with a BIG SMILEY FACE on it. I stuffed that envelope in the glove compartment of my car as soon as I got it. Not peeking was the biggest test! We left our results with Emily at When Pigs Fly Pastries.
We invited our family and and a few friends over for lunch to find out all together what our baby would be. I think that’s what made this so special, is that we had no idea and neither did anyone in our family! Of course everyone had their own guesses. I thought we were having a BOY and Chris was leaning towards a GIRL.
For a theme we went with Pink and Blue and hosted the lunch at home. With the help of our friends at Sonia’s Flowers who made the beautiful pink & blue flower arrangements, my best friend Kelly and my Mother-in-Law Lisa who decorated our Amenity Room, my Mom who made the delicious food and the friendly and wonderful Shelby Rose Photography who came over to capture every special detail and moment. The star of the show was our cake which we got at When Pigs Fly Pastries and we chose a delicious and light Strawberry Cream filled cake if it was a girl or a blueberry cream if it was a boy.
We couldn’t of asked for a better group of people to join us for this special party! We cut the cake open and it was PINK! We’re having a baby GIRL!
