Intentions for the New Year

Every year I have similar or the same resolutions. Go to bed earlier… eat healthier. This year is a little different because I find myself busier than I’ve ever been and I want to be able to spend more time with my family. I’ve never written down my resolutions because I don’t take them seriously, which is probably why every year ends up in disappointment. This year, I made intentions, since I intend on doing them, rather than resolving a problem. Here are my ideas for Intentions for the new year to make it the best year yet.

I intend to do less in order to accomplish more.

This means, cut down the clutter and keep what’s important, and do that well.

  • Work on my blog – Respond to emails and comments every night and write or take photos every Saturday
  • Keep in touch with our close friends
  • Catch up over dinner with family on Sunday nights
  • Go out with Mikayla, Zoey and Chris on Sundays

Things that I need help with: groceries, cleaning, laundry.

Solution: Order groceries online. Keep the house tidy, do a 10 minute “house reset” before bed. Do laundry on Saturday afternoon – while the baby naps.

I intend on reading.

Check out my Winter Reading List here. Reading can be inspiring and motivating. Gotta get my brain outta the fog.

I intend to get back into yoga and working out.

I used to do yoga twice a week and work out once a week before I was pregnant, and I was in the best shape I’d every been in. I felt good and energetic! I’ve always been thin and lanky, but when I was active, I weighed more than I ever have and I didn’t feel so thin and wispy. I felt fit and healthy!

I intend on planning more getaways.

Whether they’re weekend getaways or week long ones. Getting out of the city and into a different place and pace was so fun last year, I want to continue it and do more of it!

It had been raining for days, so to take action on my first and last intention, we planned a day trip up to Cypress Mountain. It was pouring in the city, so there was a good chance it was snowing on the mountain. We packed up the car with our winter gear, some blankets and towels and brought along Mikayla’s new toboggan. An hour after leaving the house that morning we found ourselves on a trail in the middle of Cypress Mountain Provincial Park. We got outta the rain and traffic and into the snow in the middle of the woods!

Happy New Year! Wishing you and your family a prosperous, healthy and fun new year!
xoxo The Breens
