Culottes & Furniture on South Granville

With MK waking up during the night to nurse, I’ve been scouring Pinterest for design inspiration for our new place! We’re moving to Ladner so originally I was thinking fresh, modern farmhouse. Like Joanna Gains’ style from Fixer Upper, LOVE that show!! But as I’m pinning photos I realize my style is more Scandinavian, eclectic, minimalistic. See what I mean here on my Pinterest board.

After living on my own and decorating my own spaces, I’ve bought, acquired, found, lots of odd knick-knacks and smaller decorative pieces. Now that I’m older, I’m over the vintage, curio-collection thing, I’d rather be a minimalist and invest in bigger, better pieces, less clutter. And more plants. This time around I want to have MORE plants!

I grew up in a house that had lots of plants inside, including a big leafy tree, an indoor banana tree, succulents, ferns, orchids, all kinds of things. My parents love to garden. In mine and Chris’ last apartment, it was too dark to grow anything as we were on the first level facing North. So I’m pretty excited for our East & West facing new home.

Other than Pinterest, Chris and I have been to South Granville quite a bit. All the boutique-y furniture shops are on South Granville: EQ3, West Elm, Urban Barn, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Country Furniture. We also like CB2 on Robson and it’s older sister… Crate & Barrel in Oakridge Mall. West Elm and Restoration Hardware are our favourites though. Both are pretty high end but it doesn’t hurt to look around and get ideas.

We spent a bit of our Valentines Day on Granville Street at EQ3 where we bought a TV bench/credenza for our spare bedroom. PS. EQ3 is having a great sale! We got a teak credenza for $500, regular $1500! We plan on turning the spare bedroom into a den/guest bedroom, with a daybed. A few friends and my brother have already claimed that room as their own. 🙂

Also on South Granville is The Latest Scoop. This place is a dream! It’s got cute clothes, accessories, even little gift and home decor items. All it’s missing is baby stuff. Mikayla and I are regulars. It’s hard to walk into that store and not walk out with something you love. I got my pants there. Culottes! I thought I couldn’t pull it off, but what the heck. I got them and I love them. They’re so comfy. With a baby, these pants let you move, squat and chase (after our dog, Zoey… for now!) I’m wearing them shopping today with an oversized sweater and denim jacket.
